According to a report in the Sacramento Business Journal, women’s clothing and accessory retailer Francesca’s will be joining the Elk Grove Outlet Mall. The retailer has posted job openings on it’s website for Elk Grove. Francesca’s currently has two other locations in the Sacramento area, the Roseville Galleria and Arden Fair Mall.
Francesca’s would join 4 other prospective tenants. Clothing retailers H & M, American Eagle Outfitters, The Flip Flop Shop and Regal Movie Theaters. At last night’s community meeting for the proposed Wilton Rancheria Casino, Tribal Chairman Ray Hitchcock mentioned that the movie theater could be a higher end theater that serves food and drinks inside the theater, similar to a Studio Movie Grill. No confirmation of that from the Howard Hughes Corporation which is developing the outlet mall.
The Hughes Corporation has stated in the past that they will resume construction on the mall once they reach a 50% leased rate. They were rumored to be at 40% last fall. Construction on the mall was halted in 2008 during the recession. The previous owner, General Growth Properties filed for bankruptcy and the mall was purchased by the Howard Hughes Corporation which has developed other similar outdoor malls throughout the United States. This was taken from the HHC website regarding the Outlet Collection at Elk Grove.
“The Outlet Collection at Elk Grove is ideally positioned just sixteen miles from the state’s Capitol Building in one of the fastest-growing areas of suburban Sacramento. It is ideally positioned to benefit from excellent access along SH-99, and will provide a much-needed shopping experience to a growing, yet underserved, market that currently lacks local access to fashion and dining. It will feature over 100 shops and restaurants, a cinema complex and park with areas to rest and relax. With its many offerings, Elk Grove is destined to be a primary retail destination in the region.”
