Restaurants warned about prank calls

Over the past 24 hours, numerous Elk Grove restaurants have received prank phone calls from someone posing as a fire department or alarm company employee asking the restaurant to test their fire suppression system.

According to a joint press release issued by Cosumnes Fire and the Elk Grove police department, testing the suppression requires clean up afterward and the business will remain closed until the county health inspector can inspect the restaurant.

Restaurant owners are asked to call the the department or their alarm company with any questions. Fire suppression testing is done in person, never over the phone.
According to the Sacramento Bee, two of the restaurants affects were 5 Guys and the Wendy’s on Bond.
