Union Pacific Railroad repairs to lead to more Elk Grove road closures.

Update 7/27/16: Union Pacific has postponed the repairs of the tracks at Calvine until a later date.

Union Pacific Railroad will be repairing two more railroad crossings in the next few weeks in Elk Grove. Next week they will be repairing the crossing on Calvine Road, west of Elk Grove-Florin. That comes at a time when Elk Grove drivers are already dealing with the closure of the intersection at Waterman and Sheldon Road for construction of a roundabout, which is scheduled to re-open late next week. The next two closings will come at an even worse time for commuters since it will occur when traditional schools in Elk Grove are back in session on August 11.

The next scheduled closure will be for the crossing on Elk Grove-Florin Road, between Sheldon and Bond Roads. That will take place August 8-12. That will be followed by the closing of Bond Road August 15-19.  That will have a major impact on commute times as Bond Road is one of the major east/west connectors on the east side of the city.  Both of these repairs were originally scheduled for June and postponed by the railroad.
