This Thursday, August 25, Cal Trans will be closing southbound highway 99 at Elk Grove Blvd to work on the freeway. The freeway will be closed from 9 pm to 4 am. This will not affect northbound traffic.
Southbound Highway 99 motorists will be detoured to Westbound Elk Grove Boulevard (Exit 286), then onto Southbound I-5. From there they will need to take Eastbound Twin Cities Road (Exit 498), to get back onto Southbound Highway 99. (Oversize Loads are not permitted.)
If you are passing through Elk Grove, take highway 5 from the downtown area and avoid the detour which will add extensive travel time.
The freeway will be closed between Elk Grove Blvd and Grantline so you will not be able to go around through Elk Grove and get back on the freeway. The nearest open on ramp will be Dillard Road, for those on the east side of 99. On the west the nearest will be Twin Cities.
