Kyle Larson of Elk Grove won his first NASCAR Sprint Cup race today in Michigan at the Pure Michigan 400. The win qualifies Larson for the Chase for the Cup in just his 3rd year on the circuit. The “chase” is NASCAR’s version of the playoffs. 16 drivers qualify to race for the points championship.
In 2014 Larson was the first recipient of Elk Grove’s Key to the City. Larson grew up in Elk Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 2010. He has been racing since he was 7 years old.
