Elk Grove police officers patrolling a neighborhood near Calvine Road observed someone hiding near some homes. When they tried to contact him, the man fled through backyards and over fences. A perimeter was set up and a helicopter was brought in to help with the search. Officers observed the man climb onto the roof of two homes. He was eventually spotted in the front yard of a home where officers recognized him as a known felon with outstanding warrants. The suspect would not comply with officers orders and was taken into custody with the help of a K9. After being medically cleared for arrest, he was taken to jail. Arrested was Sacramento resident Joel Alonzo, age 36, in the 8700 block of Inisheer Way. This was Alonzo’s third arrest since April. On April 29 he was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped. Alonzo provided false information to officers and was issued a citation and released. On May 7, he was stopped for a vehicle code violation while riding a bike and was in violation of his probation by being in possession of narcotics.
Alonzo is currently ineligible for bail.
