Elk Grove police arrest man in early morning shooting

 

Elk Grove police arrested one man in a shooting that took place early Wednesday morning.

 

Shortly after 12 am early Wednesday morning, Elk Grove police responded to the area near 9300 Miko Circle for reports of shots being fired.  When officers arrived on the scene, they determined that a suspect or suspects had fired a gun that struck a home and a vehicle.  The four suspects then fled on foot. Dayshawn Barker, 19 of Elk Grove, then exited the home that was struck by bullets and fired at the fleeing suspects.  Bullets hit another home and another vehicle in the area.  Barker was detained and it was determined that the gun he used was reported as stolen.  He was then arrested and taken to jail.  His charges are below. No booking photo is being released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

This is the second incident on Miko Circle this month.  On Labor Day morning, two suspects, described as black male adults, approached a victim as he exited his vehicle. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s personal property. Both suspects then kicked and punched the victim, before fleeing in a blue sedan. The victim received medical treatment on the scene. Elk Grove police have said the two incidents are not related.
