The city of Elk Grove opened the much anticipated trail connecting Camden area to Bond Road, near Cal Fit gym. A new bridge was installed to allow residents to cross over the creek, at the south west end of Camden Passage. The opening culminates years of effort by the city and the Trails Committee.
The trail that extends west towards highway 99 had been a dead end for over 20 years. Now with the bridge over the creek, residents can walk or bike to nearby businesses in the Bond Road/99 area. Also children in the Camden area attend Mckee and Feickert Elementary Schools, which are both south of Bond Road. The trail will allow kids to walk or ride their bikes to school.
Camden Neighborhood Association President and Trail Committee member, Sharon Anderson, has been a huge advocate of the trail extension since joining the committee years ago, along with fellow Camden resident, Mark Mendenhall. Anderson joked that this was the happiest day of her life, and said she couldn’t wait to be able to walk or bike to the nearby businesses.
