High School Football Wrap Up, October 30, 2017


Elk Grove (5-4, 4-2 in league) upset city and league rival Franklin on Friday, ruining Franklin’s senior night and keeping their own playoff hopes alive. The Herd won 30-26 and set up a must win game on Friday at home against district rival Sheldon (7-2, 5-1 league).  A win will guarantee Elk Grove a spot in the playoffs.  A Sheldon victory, coupled with a Jesuit loss to Grant would give Sheldon the league title.  Franklin fell to 6-3 and 3-3 in league play.

Sheldon defeated Pleasant Grove (3-6), 28-0, in a home game on the field the two teams share.  Pleasant Grove will finish their season at home against Franklin.

In other action Bradshaw Christian remained undefeated in league with a 35-6 win over Stellar Prep. BCS faces Highlands on the road for the final game of the regular season.

Cosumnes Oaks (4-5, 4-2) defeated Whitney 25-3 and will host Ponderosa in the final game Friday

Florin (3-6) fell to Kennedy 14-6 and will face district rival Valley (2-7) who defeated Johnson 23-20.

Monterey Trail (5-4, 3-3), lost to Delta league leader Jesuit 34-7. They will end their season on the road against winless Davis (0-9).

Laguna Creek (4-5, 4-2) kept their playoff hopes alive defeating McClatchy, 14-7. They will face winless Johnson in their season finale. A win could get them into the playoffs.
