ATTEMPTED BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT CAPTURED ELK GROVE, CA – The Elk Grove Police Department responded to an attempted bank robbery at the Bank of America (8842 Calvine Road) this morning.


At approximately 10:59 a.m., the suspect entered the Bank of America (8842 Calvine Road) and approached a teller. The suspect handed the teller a note demanding money. When the teller did not respond, the suspect walked out of the bank through the front doors without any money.


The suspect was last seen walking away from the business in a northwest direction towards Calvine Road. The suspect was described as an African-American male, in his 20’s, five feet eight inches tall (5’8”) with a medium build. The suspect had dreadlocks pulled back into a ponytail, a black long sleeve shirt with a blue undershirt, and a black Oakland Raiders hat.


During the investigation, officers received additional information from a witness who saw someone matching the description of the attempted bank robbery suspect running through a residential neighborhood. Based on the information provided, officers began searching for the suspect in the area of Liscarney Way and Clonmel Court, just north of Calvine Road. While checking the area, officers located a person matching the description of the suspect at a residence in the 8800 block of Clonmel Court. When officers attempted to contact the suspect, he ran away from officers through several backyards then into a nearby park. After a short foot pursuit, the subject was detained. The subject was positively identified by witnesses as the person responsible for the attempted robbery. The suspect, who was identified as a 17-year-old Sacramento resident, was taken into custody then transported to Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.
