Suspect in Friday’s torching of Elk Grove home booked into county jail

The man responsible for setting fire to an Elk Grove home last Friday night was booked into the Sacramento County Jail late Monday night.  30 year old Eduard Kamilchu was released from the hospital and booked last night.  Kamilchu is being held on $1,010,000 bail for the incident on Friday night on Trafton Court in Elk Grove.

The incident started shortly before 7 pm when officers responded to a call of a family dispute in the 10000 block of Trafton Court. There were reports of a possible fire at the house. The Cosumnes Fire Department was called in, but not allowed to enter the house as the suspect had barricaded himself in house.  According to police he threw an accelerant at officers.  A short time later, the suspect exited the house and fired a gun at officers, before retreating into the house.  A SWAT team was called in as the standoff lasted more than two hours.
