Meet Katie Hamilton, the Head Professional at Emerald Lakes Golf Course. Katie’s approach to coaching is to
build lesson plans to meet the players’ individual goals. A player’s swing can vary depending on physical ability
so it is important to take all criteria into consideration when designing a lesson plan. Fundamentals are vital to
the start of a good golf swing and practicing with a purpose is important when trying to achieve your dream
score. Katie’s goal for students is to improve their skills so they can enjoy this wonderful game all their life.
Katie utilizes her PGA certification in Player Development to improve all levels of players from the beginner to
the mini tour level. She is also PGA HOPE certified. Katie explains, “Teaching veterans how to play golf in
PGA HOPE is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching. It is a great way to give back to those who fought
for our country.” This certification allows Katie to teach golf to people with a wide range of abilities.
Katie is also experienced as a club fitting specialist and provides this service to customers at Emerald Lakes.
She has fitted with many club companies, including Ping, Taylormade, Tour Edge, Cleveland, Titleist, Mizuno
Since coming to Emerald Lakes, Katie has hit the ground running by coordinating events, tournaments and
player development programs. Check out the Emerald Lakes Golf Academy at

About The First Tee Junior Golf Program:
Emerald Lakes Golf Course is a local program location for The First Tee of Greater Sacramento. The First Tee
teaches boys and girls how to golf while aiming to improve healthy habits, self-esteem, and life skills. Classes
consist of putting, chipping, full swing, and understanding a golf course, all while having fun!
The First Tee has established Nine Core Values that represent some of the many inherently positive
values connected with the game of golf. By participating in The First Tee, young people are
introduced to these core values which are incorporated throughout the program. Parents are
encouraged to reinforce these behaviors by talking about them, what they mean and what these
behaviors can look like at home. The Nine Core Values are: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship,
respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgement.
The First Tee summer programs begin in June at Emerald Lakes. Classes are taught by Natalie
Farahani who is a Senior Recreation Specialist at the CSD, The First Tee Level III Coach, and a U.S.
Kids Golf Certified Coach.
About Emerald Lakes Golf Course:
For more than 20 years, Emerald Lakes Golf Course has provided a quality golf experience at a fantastic value.
The course is challenging enough to hold the attention of the scratch golfer, yet “easy enough” to make it fun
for the beginner. The nine-hole course has been owned and operated by the Cosumnes Community Services
District (CSD) since July 2006, and has undergone numerous improvements in design and maintenance
standards over the last 5 years. Emerald Lakes is the perfect place to learn, practice and play golf in Elk Grove.
