Local law enforcement and fire fighting agencies convened at Elk Grove Regional Park today for a Regional Safety Fair. It was a family friendly event that allowed to kids to sit inside of a SWAT unit, Sheriff’s helicopter, pet a K9 or put out a fire.
The Elk Grove Police Department, Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, CHP, Cosumnes Fire Department and Cal Fire were represented at the event. Sacramento Sheriff had few of the horses from their mounted patrol. The EGPD K9 Association was there with their K9 officers, a SWAT vehicle from EGPD, Elk Grove Animal Control Services, fire engines from Cal Fire and Cosumnes Fire.
Attendees visited the various booths at the event where they could receive free items from the vendors and sponsors. Cosumnes Fire set up several stations were kids could use a smaller fire hose to perform a variety of tasks. The helicopter landing was a big hit for kids and adults. Elk Grove residents have become accustomed to seeing the helicopter over the city looking for missing persons or aiding local law enforcement looking for suspects.
