Late last Elk Grove police caught a suspected car thief with the help of the Sacramento Sheriff’s Helicopter.
The incident started around 10 pm when officers observed two vehicles that were involved in a street race. One of the two vehicles failed to stop and led EGPD on a pursuit. The suspect eventually stopped the car and fled on foot. Police officers set up a perimeter near Machado Dairy Park in the East Franklin area. With the help of the helicopter and an EGPD K9, the suspect, 32 year old Kenneth Linden of Sacramento was apprehended.
Linden was on probation with an active warrant for his arrest. Once officers searched the car they determined that it was stolen. Also found in the car were narcotics and indications of drug sales. Linden faces a long list of charges.
The incident caused local residents to search for more information on social media. Elk Grove Laguna Forums received numerous messages and visitors posts. Several readers and the EGLF admin were tuned in to police scanners and kept residents updated until the suspect was taken into custody.
