Elk Grove police arrest two individuals related to last week’s house party shooting

 

As was reported earlier today on Elk Grove Laguna News, Elk Grove police arrested two individuals in connection with last week’s party shooting in the 5800 block of Spring Flower Way in Elk Grove.

 

42 year old Billy Harris and 37 year old Trameka Stafford, both of Elk Grove were arrested earlier today by Elk Grove police officers and taken to the Sacramento County Jail.

Case Update: On 7/28/18 at around 11:45pm, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 5800 block of Spring Flower Dr. Officers arrived and located evidence that shots had been fired and it was related to a house party in the same area. Several vehicles and one house (not related to the house party) was struck by the gunfire. Thankfully no one was injured.

Investigators responded out that evening and have been working tirelessly since then to find those responsible. 
Because of the cooperation of surrounding business and residents, investigators were able to find surveillance footage from different locations that assisted investigators with identifying the suspect and piecing together the suspect’s actions after the incident.

Detectives learned the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Billy Harris of Elk Grove was responsible for the shooting and his girlfriend identified as 37-year-old Trameka Stafford of Elk Grove assisted him with trying to conceal his involvement.

After an extensive surveillance, detectives located Harris and Stafford in a motel parking lot in Stockton. Both Harris and Stafford were detained. Detectives executed a two location (Elk Grove and Sacramento) search warrant. At the Elk Grove location, Investigators located evidence related to the shooting.

Thanks to the cooperation and assistance from the surrounding business and residents, detectives were able to identify Harris and piece together his and Stafford’s actions after the incident and ultimately arrest both individuals. Harris, who is currently on parole, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, shooting at an occupied dwelling and a parole hold was placed on him as well. Stafford was arrested for accessory after the fact. Both were transported to the main jail.
