Orchard Supply will be closing all of its stores by the end of the year according to a report by the San Jose Mercury News. The chain has 98 stores in California, Oregon and Florida. The hardware store started in the 1930’s in San Jose. The chain was purchased by Lowe’s in 2013 after filing for bankruptcy. Liquidation could begin as early as this week.
There are 3 stores in the Sacramento area, with one in Woodland, Antelope and Elk Grove. The Elk Grove location is near Target on Bruceville and Laguna. The closure will leave Elk Grove with two large vacant box stores. The former Sports Chalet location has been vacant for two years.
