The postseason for high school football starts this Friday night and there are five Elk Grove area high schools that will be playing. Monterey Trail, Sheldon, Cosumnes Oaks, Elk Grove and Bradshaw Christian all qualified for the playoffs. View all the brackets.
In Division I play, both Monterey Trail and Sheldon reached the playoffs. Monterey Trail is the #2 seed. Sheldon is the #5 seed. Both teams will need to get past powerhouse Folsom to win the Championship. Folsom is the #1 seed and a heavy favorite to win it all again. Sheldon (9-1) will travel to face Modesto (5-5). The winner will face #4 seed St. Mary’s of Stockton. A possible match up with Folsom could come in round 3 if both teams win the second round.
Monterey Trail will have a first round bye. They will play the winner of Pitman and Davis in week 2. MTHS would like a shot at Folsom in the final game.
Also in Division I, #11 Cosumnes Oaks (4-6) will travel to face #6 Turlock.
In Division II play, Elk Grove was a surprise selection with 5-5 record. They drew the 10th seed and will travel to play #7 seed Vacaville. The top 2 seeds in Division II are Del Oro and Central Catholic.
In Division VI, Bradshaw Christian will be the #9 seed and travel to face #8 Argonaut.
