Law enforcement responds to fight at Cosumnes Oaks High School

 

Earlier this afternoon Elk Grove police and Elk Grove Unified School District police responded a fight that broke out at Cosumnes Oaks High School.  The Sacramento Sheriff Department helicopter also responded to the scene.

 

Sources who witnessed the altercation told Elk Grove Laguna News that a parent came onto campus and may have been involved in the altercation. Sources also said the fight involved female students and that there have been several fights in recent weeks, often involving female students.  Two school admins, including the principal were hurt in the fight.

 

The Elk Grove Unified School District issued the following statement:

 

Today shortly after dismissal at approximately 3:15 p.m., school officials at Cosumnes Oaks High School immediately responded to a student altercation between four students and intervened. Campus security and law enforcement also immediately responded due to the large crowd of students who had gathered as onlookers and bystanders. The incident was quickly stabilized and the crowd was dispersed. Student and staff safety is our top priority. The students involved in the altercation did not require medical attention and no weapons were involved. Appropriate action will be taken with all students involved.

Out of an abundance of caution, two Cosumnes Oaks High School staff members, who intervened to protect students, were transported to a local hospital.
