Case Update: Two Arrested related to “For Sale” Residential Burglaries
Elk Grove has had three residential burglaries this month which all appear to be by the same suspects. All three homes had a “For Sale” sign in the front yard. All three burglaries were in the same general area, method of entry was the same as well as a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser had been seen at all of the burglaries.
These burglaries have occurred during day and night time. In two cases, the victims were still living in the house, and the suspects fled when they realized someone was home. Stolen items have been small easy to carry items (wallets, backpacks, laptops, etc.). Some of the stolen credit cards had been used at gas stations and fast food restaurants in Sacramento.
This morning, detectives caught a break and located the suspect vehicle parked in a motel parking lot in the Rancho Cordova area. Detectives conducted surveillance and as a result arrested 54-year-old James McCastle and 38-year-old Latoya Buckner, both of Sacramento. Detectives also recovered some of the stolen property. McCastle and Buckner will be transported to the main jail and booked on three counts of burglary each.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be added at a later time. If you have any information related to this investigation, please call our Investigations Division at (916) 478-8117.
