Pick Up Leaves to Prevent Localized Flooding
Please do your part to maintain our drains. Fall leaf drop and forecasted rains this week could impact the ability of our drainage systems to work properly. Please pick up leaves and place them in your Green Waste container to prevent clogging. Do not pile leaves in the street or blow them into the roadway. This week’s curbside collection includes Green Waste, so every neighbor has the opportunity to dispose of leaves properly. Please do your part to fill your containers, not the drains.
Santa & Sirens Parades
Santa and his elves have teamed up with the Cosumnes Fire Department, Cosumnes Firefighters Association and the Elk Grove Police Department to host the Santa & Sirens parades December 4,5, and 6 in locations throughout the city (weather permitting) . A small convoy of emergency vehicles, along with firefighters, police officers and volunteers, will escort Santa through neighborhood streets collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Toy Project. For nightly locations and more information, visit www.yourcsd.com.
13th Annual an Old Fashioned Christmas
Experience the magic of an old-fashioned Christmas as you step inside the Elk Grove House and Stage Stop, where all nine rooms are decked out with Victorian-themed holiday décor. The museum is now open on weekends through December 23 for the 13th annual Old Fashion Christmas. Kids are sure to enjoy decorating cookies in the kitchen and visiting with Santa (Saturday and Sunday only). Professional photos with Santa can be purchased for $15. Admission is $5 per person, which supports the Elk Grove Historical Society’s operations. For more information, visit elkgrovehistoricalsociety.com.
City Council to Consider Public Transit Options
The Elk Grove City Council will consider options for the delivery of public transit services at their next meeting on December 12.
The City’s contract with MV Transportation (MV) for the operations and maintenance of e-tran and e-van services will expire in June 2019. The Council will discuss whether to continue contracting for services in July 2019, with either an extension of MV’s contract or initiating a new contract with Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT). The Council has also asked staff to provide a separate analysis identifying the pros and cons to annexing the City’s transit services to SacRT as an alternative to contracting for these services.
Details for these options will be included in the Council agenda packet released online on December 7 at www.elkgrovecity.org.
