The Elk Grove Police Department has set up their video surveillance trailer in the Winco parking lot after there were two incidents involving purse snatchings over the holiday weekend.

On Friday night around 11:15 pm, a woman was walking to her car in the Winco parking lot when a male suspect attempted to take her purse. The woman refused before being punched several times by the suspect who fled in a gray or silver vehicle. The suspect was described as an African American male, 5’6”-5’10, 145-160 lbs., wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and dark colored shoes.

The second incident took place on Monday afternoon around 2:40 pm. A suspect approached a woman and tried to take her purse. A second suspect got out of a car and tried to help the first suspect take the purse. A nearby bystander approached the scene and both suspects fled in a beige or silver Honda. Suspect #1 was described as a Caucasian male, approximately 18-years-old with a heavy build. Suspect #2 was described as a Caucasian male, approximately 16-18, 5’10”- 6’1”, and weighing approximately 1800-200 lbs.

The department has used the cameras in other areas in the past year. Twice in residential areas near homes that have been the subject of several calls for service. Just last week the camera was set up in the parking lot near Dutch Bros on Sheldon Road.
