Show Some Love for Your Community, Donate Food

Join the Elk Grove Youth Commission this Tuesday, February 12 in City Council Chambers (8400 Laguna Palms Way) between 5:30 and 8:00 pm for a canned food drive benefitting the Elk Grove Food Bank. The most needed items include: canned meat and fish, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned soup, peanut butter, cranberries, chicken broth, and oatmeal or cereal. Give a little extra love to those in need by making a valentine for the person receiving your donation!

It’s Tax Season! For Those Who Qualify, There’s Free Filing Help

Households throughout the Sacramento region that earned $60,000 or less in 2018 can receive free tax help through the United Way California Capital Region and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). See if you qualify for valuable state and federal tax credits by using one of these two FREE tax return filing services before Monday, April 15, this year’s tax filing deadline.

1.      In person at a Sacramento area tax preparation site. Site locations and operating dates near Elk Grove can be found atwww.elkgrovecity.org.

2.      Online at MyFreeTaxes.org. The website sponsored by United Way and powered by H&R Block software saves users an average of $200 in tax preparation fees. All you need is a valid email address, your adjusted gross income (AGI) from the previous year, and your income forms such as a W2, 1099, 1098, etc.
