Pet Food Drive

Help local pets (and their families) by donating dog or cat food to the Elk Grove Food Bank and the City’s Animal Services Pet Food Pantry at the annual Pet Food Drive this Sunday, March 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Laguna Gateway Shopping Center located at the corner of Laguna Blvd. and Big Horn Blvd. Your donation could help struggling families keep their pets instead of making the hard choice to surrender or abandon them. Any dog or cat food will be graciously accepted. For details, visitwww.shopelkgroveca.com.

Franklin High School’s Plastics Club Wants Your Old, Dried Out Markers
Students in Franklin High School’s Plastics Club are looking to make their mark on local conservation. They’ve added a collection bin at City Hall and invite you to bring your old, dried up markers, highlighters, permanent markers, and dry erase markers in for recycling. The club has implemented the collection campaign as part of the Ocean Plastic Pollution Summit hosted by the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Pens collected at City Hall and Franklin High School will be given to Crayola’s Colorcycle, a recycling program that re-purposes used markers into useful materials for roofing and other uses. The Franklin High Plastics Club Pen Recycling Bin is located inside City Hall at 8401 Laguna Palms Way. Contributions can be dropped any time Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For details, contact Gwen Rubio at (916) 425-7414.
