Suspects tries to steal backpack from pedestrian near Morse Park in Elk Grove

On Sunday afternoon a suspect tried to steal a backpack from a victim that was walking near Morse Park.

The incident took place around 2:15 pm in the 5500 block of Bellaterra Drive. The suspect, described as a Hispanic male, 17-18 years old, 5’1-5’2, average build, wearing a black shirt and pants, approached the victim and tried to take the backpacks. The victim was able to prevent the suspect from doing so and the suspect fled on foot.

This is the fourth incident in the past month involving an attempted robbery in the area of a pedestrian. The previous three occurred on weekdays, shortly after school was out.

There was an attempted robbery on the pedestrian bridge at Whitelock Parkway, by Franklin High School. Prior to that there was a robbery near Morse Park. One arrest was made in third incident.
