The Sacramento County District Attorney issued a press release on the conviction of former Cosumnes Oaks High School teacher Monte Reed’s conviction on Thursday.
Monte Reed was convicted by a jury of two counts of unlawful sex with a minor; three counts of oral copulation with a minor; two counts of penetration with a foreign object with a minor; and two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a 14 and 15 year old.
Monte Reed was a popular teacher at Cosumnes Oaks High School. He was also a freshman football and basketball coach. In 2016, the 15-year-old female victim was in Reed’s honors class when the two of them started a sexual relationship. The two engaged in sex acts in Reed’s classroom before school, after school, during his prep period and over the 2016 summer break. In April 2017, the victim disclosed the relationship to her best friends, who encouraged her to report it to an adult. The victim did not want to report, so her friends reported the relationship to a trusted teacher at the school. During the investigation, several other girls reported inappropriate sexual touching and comments made to them by Reed. Reed was charged for his conduct with two other victims.
