Our favorite oceanfront cabin at the Shamrock Lodgettes in Yachats, Oregon. They are vintage 1950’s log cabins built from real Oregon pine trees, pine plank interior walls and ceilings, authentic rock fireplaces, floors that slope from age and settling, an old Norge refrigerator in the kitchen, original plumbing and light fixtures, etc. So rustic and charming, and right on the ocean with 5 acres of pines and deep green grass and only a half hour drive along the ocean to our favorite restaurant, Waterfront Depot in Florence.
Unfortunately, they are tearing the cabins down for some new development. 😡
One of the few things I remember on my visit to my great grandmother was all the flowers in the garden at the nursing home. They put a lot of work into making the place look good and though I was young, I still noticed. (My mother side of the family is from England.)
