Updated my iPhone and iPad this morning no problem.

The first thing you need to do is back up your device. There is always a chance of something happening and you could lose your photos, contacts and basically anything on your device. It happens every time to someone. If you use iCloud then it should back up every night if your device is on, connected to power and wifi. You can check to see when your last back up was by going to Settings, then iCloud, then Backup. You can then choose to manually back it up again if you want. If you’re not using iCloud, then you should be backing it up to iTunes. Open iTunes and see if your device is connected. Then click on the device in iTunes and it will say when it was last backed up. You can also choose to back it up manually at that time.

Once you have done that and made sure you have a recent backup you can download and install the update. Go to settings on your device. Then go to General and the software update. It will check for the update. You will need to be connected to wifi to download and install it. Follow the directions to download and install the update. The time it takes will depend on your Internet speed.

So what is in iOS 10? You can watch the Video. Maps has been redesigned. You can now write messages in your own handwriting. Siri will now be available in more apps. You can send hidden messages or photos to someone and they have to swipe to reveal it. You can use Apple Pay through your browser to pay for online purchases.

My Niece upgraded hers a few weeks ago and it locked her out of her phone. They couldn’t fix in until the made some improvements and changes to the upgrade. I’ve been holding off until those changes are made. I usually upgrade right away. And the upgrade changes the gun emoji to a water gun. How stupid..

Glad yours is working well Maybe I’ll upgrade soon.

Did she upgrade to the beta version? I would never do that.

She had to do beta version.

I think the “send” button for messages now is stupid, it looks like an upload button with the up arrow. Also, is there no way to remove the predictive text. I haven’t upgraded to 10, because I was debating on getting the Iphone 7

I think so. I wouldn’t either. But she is in 9th grade. Might not have known the difference. She knows now….

The new send button is dumb.

You can get rid of the predictive text. 🙂

Yesterday I couldn’t find the flashlight on my iPhone. Somehow I swiped up and then to the right and I guess I didn’t realize it. Then I swiped left and it was back where it always was. I don’t care for how the messages app is now. I like the new features, just not how it’s laid out. I remember a couple of years ago when they came out with a new iOS and it was really bright colors. I hated that one. Reminded me of the Android phones. It was too much. They ended up changing back shortly after. I’ll bet they will change the messages app.

Everyone hates the message thing. It something to get used to. I also heard there is no more swipe feature, or it’s now different to unlock your phone.

Then there’s doodle text. I use the flashlight heavily.

Also, thanks for the video Doc. I saw it on FB and sent it to a couple of friends that were complaining about it.
