Based on the comments on here and Facebook, we have compiled the top 6 places to get a sandwich in Elk Grove.
Vote in our poll. The poll will close next Tuesday morning at 10:30 am. We will enter all the names in a raffle and one lucky person will receive a $25 gift card. You have to be a member of EGL to vote.
I would like to vote for Togo’s but it isn’t on here….so I will vote for another one.
Togos didn’t get enough votes in our nomination.
Mr. Pickles is my all time favorite but I may have to try Baguette and Bravo.
Make sure to vote in our poll.
Voted in poll.
Just over 24 hours left in our poll. Make sure you vote to be entered into our contest.
No Bel Air……
Nope. Hope you voted the right way this time 🙁
Yes, this time I did.
What, no Quizno’s ;-)? Togo’s builds a better sandwich than Subway, but Subway has the price, speed, and critical mass, brand recognition.
Quizno’s is about gone. I remember the Subway development team was really worried when they started ramping up, but then Quiznos started screwing their unit owners with inflated food pricing to the point no one could make any money, and units started to close. Quiznos was holding meetings/seminars to resell them, all the while ignoring the menu which got stale and less appealing. The downhill spiral never stopped.
Quiznos has/had a big investment in Smashburger, and plenty of industry people were worried they were going to ruin that too. So far Smash has a strong following, not sure if the units are making money. They had a very broad menu at first, and have pared that down recently to the better sellers.
Only one Quiznos that I know of.. Possibly 2 and that’s Downtown.
I loved Quiznos when they first came out. We used to go to the one in Natomas when it first opened and we were on our way to Kings games. We had one at Bond and EG Florin that I went to a few times. I always liked their sandwiches.
We had one over in Stonelake Landing. It wasn’t open very long.
I too enjoyed Quiznos but the price was tough to swallow. I loved the honey mustard and horseradish sauce you could use to dip your sandwich…and unlimited pepercinis and jalapenos.
Quiznos had a great bbq sauce too.
Who won?
Good question! I didn’t do the drawing yet!
Slacker…
Here you go.

Enjoy those sandwiches!
Stopped in at baguette’s today and picked up a gift card and holiday turkey sandwich. Very yummy. Wait wasn’t too bad.
what’s in a holiday turkey?
Thank you! I’m looking forward to visiting their new location. They used to be right down the street from my house and so we’d walk there all the time.
Guess Baguettes liked winning the contest. 🙂

Give Best of Elk Grove a run for their money? Here’s a daffy idea, actually two. 1) Don’t have a category for “Best Web Designer That Works for a Local Forum,” and along the same line, 2) feel free to keep the categories fairly broad and relevant, like you have so far. That alone would keep people interested and probably get more than a vote from the business owner to win the category where basically one business qualifies.
Okay, I went to Baguettes… OMG, was that flippin’ great?!? I had that stupid Holiday Turkey, and it was amazing. Not cheap, but completely outstanding. A worthy winner!
Now I’ll have to try them, too.
Oh, so my referral wasn’t good enough for you, you needed Tom to chime in too? :taser
I am known for my good taste and refined palate.
Based on Tom’s recommendation I’ll give them a try. :stir:

And not comparing food quality to Bel Air cuisine. :beatdead:
Or Mexican to Chipotle, pizza to LCP 😉 But then again Tom likes overcooked bacon so there’s that…. Baguettes is really good. I had the Cuban a couple of weeks ago. Not really an authentic Cuban–you really need Cuban bread for that–but well done. Not expensive, and a cut above the pack.
There’s another website that you and Joy might like to try…….. :taser
I don’t think that one worked out too well for either of us, but thanks for the great idea, Doc. If it’s OK with you we’ll stick around here and pitch on you
Ditto.
