Elk Grove’s Crime Rate, 2008-2015
On May 17, Elk Grove Police Department Police Chief Robert Lehner participated in an online chat on the local community website Elk Grove Laguna Forums. He answered questions from local residents about crime and other issues in the City of Elk Grove. Some of the subjects that were touched on included domestic violence, adding more officers, the helicopter visits, Prop 47, and video cameras.
EGPD Chief Lehner also provided data on crime rates for 2005-2015 for cities with over 100,000 residents. Elk Grove did not start participating until 2008 in the data tracking. The graph shows a steady decline from 2008 to 2013. In 2014 the rate spiked upwards and dropped down again in 2015.
