On Saturday night the Elk Grove Police Department arrested a man who attempted to carjack a vehicle. The suspect fled on foot and was spotted by the EGPD. A K9 was deployed to apprehend the suspect, Johnny Turnbull, who kicked and punch the K9. An officer used a taser to subdue the suspect. He was later connected to a vehicle burglary earlier in the morning.

The victim had just parked her vehicle in front of the above location when she was approached by S-1. While the victim was seated in the driver’s seat, S-1 opened the driver side door and grabbed/pulled the victim by the wrist. S-1 then walked to the passenger side of the vehicle, opened the door then sat down in the passenger seat. S-1 and the victim then struggled over the car keys. S-1 fled the location on foot and EGPD was contacted. Responding officers located S-1 who fled into a residential area on foot. An EGPD K9 was deployed in an effort to apprehend S-1. S-1 kicked and punch the K-9 and resisted the officers attempts to take him into custody. An officer deployed his Taser which was successful in gaining compliance from S-1. S-1 was arrested and a search incident to arrest led to the discovery of narcotics paraphernalia. Officers were also able to determined that S-1 was responsible for a vehicle burglary earlier that morning. S-1 was medically cleared for incarceration then transported to the main jail.
