Emerald Lakes Golf Course is the only public golf course in Elk Grove. It is a 9 hole course that can challenge both beginners and experienced golfers. Emerald Lakes was opened in the 1990’s and was purchased by the Cosumnes Community Services District in 2006. The course is south of Grantline Road, just east of highway 99. If you’ve traveled from the south to Elk Grove you have seen the course along the freeway.
Water comes into play on 7 of the 9 holes on the course. The course feature four par 3’s, four par 4’s and one par 5. At just over 2300 yards, the course is a good test for using all the clubs in your bag, especially for a beginner. Some of the short par 4’s will tease the low handicap golfer to try and drive the green. The 9th hole is a great finishing hole. The tee shot requires accuracy to avoid the water right and out of bounds left. Laying up short of the water will require a long iron or fairway wood to reach the green in two.
