Opening day for soccer, Saturday, August 20

This Saturday the Elk Grove Youth Soccer League celebrates the opening of the season with it’s Soccer Jamboree at Elk Grove Park.

Elk Grove Soccer’s Recreation event is the largest gathering of soccer players in the greater Sacramento area.  This is considered soccer’s opening day.  Players will come together for their first games and pictures, enjoy music, food and BBQ, skill challenges, and other family soccer related fun. Over 120 teams and over 4000 players will be there on Saturday.

“This is not only a day of soccer, it’s a great event for our families,” said Dave Groves, Elk Grove Soccer’s Recreation leader.  “As we come together in one place – on one day-  our players and families understand they are part of something vast and great in our community.  We want to ensure that we focus on the fun of soccer and keep our families coming back each year.”

According to Elk Grove Soccer President Debra Carlton, the organization has worked closely with the local Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD) to plan the event.  “As you can imagine, an event this big requires extensive planning, and the CSD has been a great partner with us to help ensure we are successful.” said Carlton.
