An Elk Grove resident noticed someone in their neighborhood acting suspiciously. The man was riding his bike in the rural area of eastern Elk Grove. The area has been hit over the past year by burglaries and in some cases a man on a bicycle was seen prior to the crimes. Elk Grove Police were called and the man was arrested and charged with false impersonation and a probation violation. He also had an outstanding warrant from Placer County. No word on if there is any link to previous crimes.
In an exclusive interview with Elk Grove Laguna News, the citizen who made the call and wishes to remain anonymous, told us what they saw yesterday morning.
Leaving my home on Monday morning, I noticed a man entering my neighborhood riding a bike…he was dressed in black with black shades and black backpack… he was not from the neighborhood and something told me to watch him before driving off from my home. Due to a recent daytime burglary of my neighbors home and EGPD warning us of casings and thief gang, I felt I should report him as suspicious to the non emergency line at EGPD. They were super nice and said an officer would head out to the area to check him out. Within 10 minutes an officer with the EGPD called me to get more details. Within an hour, he called me back to tell me thank you for reporting because the man I saw was a wanted felon with a warrant and definitely not someone I would want in my neighborhood! He was caught and arrested and jailed. I am so thankful for their swift response and keeping me informed of his arrest. It pays to report suspicious activity to the non emergency line.
