One killed in three vehicle early morning crash involving Elk Grove school bus

Two people were seriously injured in an early morning accident involving an Elk Grove school bus and two other vehicles. The accident took place this morning around 7:15 am. The bus rolled over into the field. One of the vehicles involved ran off the road into a tree. Two people were extracted from the other vehicle with serious injuries. At least 4 students were hurt on the school bus. No word on the severity of their injuries. Elk Grove school officials were on the scene to notify the parents.

Update: KCRA earlier reported one fatality and that has been retracted.

Fire and police from multiple agencies were on the scene to assist. The CHP will be handling the investigation into the accident. The school bus involved was a smaller school bus. Information on the fire department scanner indicated that at least one student was a special needs student.
