Manhunt underway for man who murdered Stanislaus Sheriff’s Deputy

Updated 1:15 pm. Machado was captured by law enforcement.

A manhunt is underway for David Machado, who is accused of murdering Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputy Dennis Wallace, age 53, a 20 year law enforcement veteran.  Deputy Wallace was investigating reports of a stolen vehicle in the town of Hughson at Fox Grove Park. Wallace was found dead of a gun shot to the head at close range according to police.

Machado fled the scene and was last seen driving a 2009 white Kia Rio with the license plate, 6JIS245, that he had carjacked in nearby Keyes. Machado is considered armed and dangerous.
