Four Elk Grove area high schools in second round of playoffs

Round 2 of the high school football playoffs resumes Friday night with 4 Elk Grove area high schools competing. Elk Grove, Cosumnes Oaks, Sheldon and Bradshaw Christian are all playing Friday night.

Elk Grove vs Turlock 7 pm. The 10-1 Herd host 9-2 Turlock. Elk Grove dominated in their first round matchup against Gregori, winning 49-8. The Herd is looking towards a potential rematch with Folsom next week if both teams win in round 2. A victory by Elk Grove and Sheldon would set up a rematch of a game a couple of weeks ago where Elk Grove easily defeated Sheldon 35-0.

Cosumnes Oaks at Oak Ridge 7 pm.  Cosumnes Oaks 8-3 hits the road against 9-2 Oak Ridge. Cosumnes Oaks squeaked by Davis in round 1 while Oak Ridge easily defeated River City. This is a rematch of last year’s playoffs where Oak Ridge defeated Cosumnes Oaks 30-7. The winner will play the victor of the Pitman-St. Mary’s game.

Sheldon at Folsom 7 pm.  The Huskies 8-3, come into the game off a big win vs Kennedy 78-6. Folsom comes into the game at 10-1, with 17 straight playoff wins. The winner will play against the winner of the Elk Grove-Turlock game next week.

Bradshaw Christian vs Argonaut 7pm. BCS 11-0 is hosting Argonaut 8-3 in the Division VI semi-finals. The winner will play for the championship next week against the winner of Amador-Orestimba.
