Elk Grove Locations for Your Family Photos

Elk Grove Locations for Your Family Photos

By: Joshua Drazil

It’s that time of the year when we are preparing for the upcoming holidays. What better way than to send endearing holiday cards to friends and family? Family photos are in full swing and well—as we all know—December 25th can sneak up on us a lot faster than we think. Before you know it, it will be time to get those cards in the mail which will leave you with some hair-pulling, last-minute planning to do. I would like to make a strong case that there are several locations in and around Elk Grove that would make fantastic sites to have your family photo shoots. I have included seven of my favorite places to take family photos in Elk Grove in hopes that they get your creative juices flowing! If you know of other great places to take family portraits in Elk Grove, please let the author know so that we can come out with a second edition of this article!

Location #1: You guessed it – the infamous Elk Grove Park. I know, I know, it seems like everyone gets their pictures taken here and you want to be different, right? Well, there may be a reason for that! If it is last minute and you have to get those holiday cards printed in a jiff, this might be the quickest, easiest, and provide one of the best backdrops you can find in Elk Grove. Be creative!

Location #2: Located in the heart of Old Elk Grove on Elk Grove Boulevard at the railroad tracks (95624 zip code). The brick wall that makes up the wall to the Red Door antique store is a great backdrop for family portraits by offering strong colors and great texture.

Location #3: The fountain and amphitheater located near Laguna Town Hall and Bartholomew Park. The options here are seriously endless; I have only included a few examples. You really have to check this place out for your family photos. There is a fountain, a lake, grassy areas, stairs, trees, a stage, and much more!

Location #4: A little trail that you can find at Falcon Meadow Drive and Lismore Drive in the 95624 area code. Background is key for your portraits. While your background is going to be blurred out most of the time, it is important to have something interesting. Just a short walk from the road you will find a wall which could make a unique backdrop, a bridge, and plenty of nature to provide you with those unique family photo opportunities.

Location #5: Hill Park near Old Elk Grove located on Porta Rosa Drive (some cross streets to help you pin point the location: Monte Cresta Way or Rancho Drive). This one is located in the 95624 zip code. This spot is I think one of my favorites as it provides beautiful back drops and scenery. Hint: bring a prop to add some flare!

Location #6: Camden Lake in the 95624 zip code. Again, this area has many scenic points of interest that will be great for portrait backdrops. Put on your Sunday best and meet your photographer at this location for some really great opportunities.

Location 7: Del Meyer Park which is located on Elk Grove Florin Road in between Lamprey Drive and Bond Road (95624 zip code). Without sounding too repetitive, this is just another creative place to have your photos taken with the bike trail, cat tails, and creek that would all make great backgrounds and foregrounds!

And again, if you are familiar with locations around town that you think would make great photography locations, please let the author know and share your thoughts!
