Elk Grove police officers responded to a call of a domestic violence incident on Friday evening. The suspect, Thomas Milne, age 46 of Elk Grove, was involved a verbal argument that turned physical with the victim. After the victim called police, Milne prevented the victim from leaving. The victim eventually escaped and met with responding officers.

When officers tried to contact Milne, he barricaded himself in the house. Officers observed that Milne was suffering from self-inflicted injuries to his wrists. As officers were attempting to make contact with him, he came out of his room and moved toward officers while holding two large knives in a threatening manner. Milne did this two times, and each time an officer deployed beanbag rounds striking Milne who then retreated into the room. Milne eventually surrendered and was transported to the hospital to a local area hospital for medical treatment and was transported to the main jail after being medically cleared for incarceration.
