Jesse Tom of Elk Grove was found guilty of killing his dog and putting it in a BBQ with the intention of cooking it according to investigators at his trial. Th incident took place in July of 2015. A neighbor reported seeing Tom beating a chihuahua-beagle mix in his backyard and called police. Animal control officers arrived and found Tom in his back yard. He slammed the door on them and went into the house. He eventually tried to run from the animal control officers and police officers who arrived as back up. The chase led through several backyards until Tom hurt himself in a fall. He was arrested.

 

Tom allegedly also started a fire in his kitchen. The deceased dog was found in the bottom of a BBQ, covered with briquets and oil. The fire in the BBQ was never started. Tom will be sentenced on January 27 and faces a possible maximum of 7 years in prison. Tom was on probation at the time of his arrest.
