One person killed in accident near West Stockton and Highway 99 in Elk Grove

Shortly before 6 pm this evening a SUV traveling northbound on West Stockton Blvd, north of Laguna Blvd, went through the fence onto the freeway. There were two people in the vehicle. The passenger was killed in the accident. According to police, the driver fled the scene before they arrived. Highway 99 remains open, but the two right lanes on southbound 99 are closed. West Stockton Blvd is closed between Wooded Brook and Dunisch.
