Heavy rains fill Elk Grove creeks

The heavy rain throughout the day on Thursday caused some minor street flooding in Elk Grove and had some Elk Grove creeks running high as the aftermath of the storm subsided. Friday morning, the Laguna Creek Trail between Waterman and Elk Grove-Florin Road, was closed in sections as the water overran parts of the trail. That also caused Elk Grove “Waterfalls” to put on a show as well.  The waterfall happens when Laguna Creek crosses under highway 99 into the overflow basin just west of the freeway. It’s something we didn’t see too often of late during the drought. We did see it a couple of times earlier in 2016. It’s a welcome sight for the area.
