Update on this morning’s fatal bicycle accident on Laguna Blvd



Unconfirmed reports are that the deceased man was an employee at Apple and may have been on the way to work. His name has not yet been released by the Sacramento County Coroner.


Officers responded to westbound Laguna Boulevard / Haussmann St. around 6:30 a.m, regarding a bicyclist who had been struck by two vehicles.

The bicyclist was traveling westbound (number 3 lane / next to the sidewalk) on Laguna when he was rear-ended by a vehicle traveling in the same direction. The bicyclist struck the hood then the front windshield of the vehicle and was thrown over the roof of the vehicle before landing on the roadway (same lane of traffic).

The adult male bicyclist was then hit by another vehicle traveling in the same direction on Laguna Blvd. The bicyclist was transported to a local area hospital where he passed away. The first vehicle involved was a four-door sedan, the second vehicle was a pick-up truck. The bicyclist was wearing a helmet and his bike was equipped with a flashing red taillight at the time of the collision. The collision is under investigation and both drivers remained at the scene after the collision.
