Elk Grove resident Susan Wright is taking over the afternoon drive slot on K-Hits 101.5, replacing long time Sacramento radio host Big Jim Hall. See press release below.

We caught up with Susan yesterday to ask her a few questions about the upcoming change.

How long have you lived in Elk Grove. What brought you here?

I bought my first house in Elk Grove about 9 years ago. This area reminded me of a beautiful place in Florida where I used to live. There are so many parks, green areas and trees; it really caught my eye when I was looking for a house. The fact that it is so neighborhood-friendly is a big bonus!

How long have you worked in radio? Was it something you wanted to do growing up?

I have worked in radio collectively for 15 years. A few years early in my career and the past several with 101.5 K-Hits. I took a break from radio in the middle and worked as a newscast director in Florida, then moved back to California to work at KMAX TV. I first knew I wanted to work in radio when I was a teenager. I used to call the DJs at the local station and bug them constantly about voice work and radio.

Tell us about your new position at K-Hits 101.5, the afternoon drive is a coveted position

I am thrilled to be in the afternoon drive position. It’s a totally different audience and lifestyle group to get to know. The music is fun and dialed in. I just hope I can fill Big Jim Hall’s shoes!

KCCL SACRAMENTO UNVEILS NEW LINEUP FOR 2017

Results Radio LLC has announced its programming lineup for 2017. Market legend Joey Mitchell continues to host morning drive while midday host Susan Wright moves to afternoon drive.

Rico Garcia, who doubles as KCCL’s Operations Manager, said: “Just a few years ago 101.5 K-Hits had just a few limited hours of local hosting. As we’ve continued to grow, so has our presentation and our ability to do more local radio. We are excited about 2017!”

Former afternoon drive host Big Jim Hall remains with K-Hits has a host of special programming, events, and other on-air features, and will continue to be seen with the station at appearances around the market. 2017 marks 42 years in Sacramento radio for Hall.
