Former corrections officer pleads guilty in fatal DUI crash

 

 

39 year old Rajnel Nath pled guilty for his role in the crash that killed 63 year old Jeffrey Fields of Elk Grove. Nath who was a corrections officer at the time of the crash on July 8, reportedly was at Chicago Fire Pizza in Elk Grove where he had been drinking. After leaving the restaurant he proceeded westbound on Laguna Blvd where he slammed into the back of a Prius driven by Fields.  This caused a chain reaction crash that damaged 7 vehicles.

 

Nath was arrested on August 18 on multiple felony counts including gross vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. On January 5th he pled guilty to the charges. He will be sentenced on February 3. He could face up to 14 years in prison.
