An Elk Grove man was arrested without incident after more than a 2 hour standoff with Elk Grove police on Monday. 43 year old Jerry Jessup of Elk Grove was arrested shortly before noon on Monday morning. According to police, late Sunday night they received a call from a home on Cleary Circle that Jessup was armed with a handgun in the residence. Jessup had earlier fired one shot while on the porch of the home. The person in the home then locked Jessup out of the home. There were two children present in the home at the time.
Officers arrived and conducted an extensive search on foot and in the air using the helicopter. On Monday morning police received word that Jessup was back at the home. A perimeter was set up around the area. Cleary Circle and Waterfield Drive were closed down as police tried to contact Jessup. The SWAT team was on scene if necessary. Officers contacted Jessup and determined he was at another location. He was arrested and taken to county jail. A handgun was recovered at the Cleary location.
Jessup was charged with 246.3, felony negligent discharge of a firearm, and 273A(A) felony child endangerment
