Elk Grove Police capture two bank robbers

 

Elk Grove Police officers captured two bank robbers Saturday morning in Elk Grove. At around 9:45 am, two men wearing masks, entered the US Bank building located at 5000 Laguna Blvd. The men demanded money from the bank teller.  After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspects fled in an unknown direction in a black Honda Civic with paper plates.

 

An officer spotted the suspect vehicle near Elk Grove Blvd and Bruceville Road. Officers conducted a felony vehicle stop of the suspect vehicle. As officers approached the vehicle, the suspects took off at a high rate of speed.  A high speed chase ensued on eastbound Elk Grove Blvd. The suspects then stopped the vehicle near Walmart on Elk Grove Blvd and fled on foot.  Both suspects were detained after a short foot pursuit by police officers.

 

According to Elk Grove police, there were no injuries reported. Weapons were simulated but none were seen by the bank teller. No details on the suspects has been released as of this time. Once the names and booking photos have are available, the story will be updated.

S-1 (Sacramento resident) and S-2 (Fairfield resident) entered the US Bank at the above location and confronted several tellers. The suspects threatened the employees inside the bank and demanded money. Fearing for their safety, the tellers gave the suspects an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency. The suspects fled the bank prior to EGPD arriving. Responding officers located a vehicle, a short distance away, that was possibly associated with the robbery. When officers attempted to conduct an enforcement stop, the vehicle did not yield and led officers on a pursuit that travelled 1.4 miles. The pursuit terminated in the 8400 block of Elk Grove Blvd when the suspect vehicle collided with another vehicle. The two occupants fled on foot and were apprehended by officers. Officers located the stolen money from the bank in the vehicle that the suspects had fled from. S-1 was taken into custody then transported to juvenile hall. S-2 was arrested then transported to the main jail.
