Coming up on October 7 & 8 is the annual Great Pumpkin Festival put on by the Cosumnes Community Services District at Elk Grove Regional Park. The event is expected to attract over 45,000 people to the park.
Sinful Treats is the sponsor of 4th annual Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival World Pumpkin Pie-Eating Championship on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1:30 p.m. in Elk Grove Regional Park. The event features contestants from Major League Eating. Sinful Treats will be providing 130 pounds of pumpkin for the event.
Sinful Treats owner, Mariel Black said she will have two booths at the festival this year. One will be a fundraiser for local non-profit, Chicks In Crisis, a group that works with teen mothers in the Elk Grove area. Guests can buy pumpkin pie by the slice or whole, pumpkin pecan cookies and pumpkin cupcakes with spiced buttercream. All profits will go to Chicks in Crisis.
The second booth will feature more pumpkin goodies and also lemonade made by Ethan Black of Ethan’s Legenade. Ethan donates 50% of his profits to Chicks in Crisis.
Sinful Treats makes their pumpkin pies from scratch. They use their own special spices and according to Black, the secret is the butter crust.
Sinful Treats also does catering for local businesses and events. The holiday season is a very busy time as many businesses give pies as presents to their customers and employees.
