Shoplifters using violence at Elk Grove stores over the weekend

 

Three separate incidents of shoplifting over the weekend involved violence or threatened violence by the suspects

 

The first incident took place at the Party City location on Laguna Blvd around 6:30 pm on Friday evening. A white male in his 40’s was observed shoplifting in the store and was confronted by an employee when after exiting the store. The suspect then pulled out a can of pepper spray and threatened the employee. The employee did not attempt to detain the suspect and the suspect fled to a white vehicle being driven by a white female. The suspect had dark hair, and was wearing a baseball cap, a white t-shirt, and blue jeans.

 

The second incident happened around 3 pm at Hobby Lobby on Saturday afternoon.  A female suspect was seen shoplifting inside the store and was approached by an employee when she exited the store. The suspect then pushed and punched the employee before fleeing into an awaiting white SUV that was being driven by an unknown female.  The suspect was described as a black female, in her 20’s, 5`5″, 140-150 pounds, wearing a maroon shirt, black leggings and pink shoes.

 

The third shoplifting incident took place at the Safeway on Laguna Blvd around 4:30 pm on Sunday afternoon.  The suspect, 45 year old James Vale of Sacramento, exited the store without paying for items he had in his possession. Loss prevention officers attempted to detail Vale and he punched one of them in the face before fleeing on foot. Elk Grove police officers arrived on scene and arrested Vale.  He is being held on $1 million bail.
