Elk Grove Police arrested two men in an early morning robbery on Sunday at Walgreens. The incident took place shortly before 4 am at the Walgreens located at 7299 Laguna Blvd.
Two men entered the store early Sunday morning. One suspect, 21 year old Dabria Ortiz of Sacramento, started taking tobacco products from the store shelves. A second suspect Detrevious Patterson, 20, also from Sacramento stood inside the store. Ortiz threatened the employees and demanded more tobacco products. One employee tried to call 911 from a phone and Ortiz knocked the phone of the employee’s hands.
The two suspects left the store and were seen by officers getting into a vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the pair, who led them on a short pursuit. The pursuit stopped when the suspect vehicle struck the center media. Ortiz fled the vehicle while it was still moving. Officers chased Ortiz who was arrested after a brief struggle.
Patterson exited the vehicle and refused to comply with officers demands. He was eventually restrained and taken into custody. Patterson showed signs of impairment and performed poorly on sobriety tests. Both suspects were arrested.
