One man arrested at Safeway parking lot after assault with a firearm

 

Elk Grove police arrested one man on Tuesday afternoon for assaulting a driver in another vehicle with a handgun. The incident occurred near Bruceville Road and Elk Grove Blvd. 24 year old Phillip Drakesford of Elk Grove was the passenger in a vehicle, when according to police, he pointed a gun at the victim, who was in another car.  The victim got out of his car and confronted the suspect.  There was a brief struggle and Drakesford hit the victim with the gun. He then fled the scene. Responding officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle in the parking lot near Safeway and conducted a felony stop.  Multiple officers were called in as backup and witnesses said that officers had their guns drawn on the suspect vehicle.  Also Safeway was locked down as precaution during the incident.  Drakesford was arrested and a loaded firearm was discovered.
